Princess Goldie Grows Up!

#1 ina Collection of 6 Photographs

Kids grow up so fast!

It seems just weeks ago that I photographed Princess Goldie: a jaw-dropping, distinctive, golden-plumed female Cardinal in her adolescent days, and…

Come to think, it was just weeks ago! And now…?

I saw Goldie again today, and quite miraculously she’s kept her golden plumage, while filling out and growing the orange-red crest and beak of a mature female!

You don’t have to be a male Cardinal to be love-struck.

Below you may compare several more shots of the adult Goldie with a couple of previously-unpublished photos of Goldie in her youth. Which do you like best?

2 in a collection of 6 photographs. Her crest has turned vermillion and her golden features are fuller, but this is manifestly the same Princess Goldie whose distinctive coloring stopped me in my tracks several weeks ago.
#3 in a collection of 5 photographs. I love this little Cardinal so much that I can’t resist dropping close to show more detail!

#5 in a collection of 6 photographs. Now we flash back a few weeks ago to Goldie in her pale adolescence, with her blond feathers sharp and new, and her beak and crest not yet mature.
#6 in a Collection of 6 Photographs. And last, another previously unpublished photo of Princess Goldie as she looked back in July, as an adolescent.
