You could have knocked me over with a Great Blue Heron feather when our frequent visitor, Beau, flew up onto the dock nearest me and posed like a fashion model on the runway.
He clearly knew my enormous telephoto lens and I were seated less than 10 yards away, because he looked me in the eye and said “squawohehonk!” which is Great-Blue-Heron-speak for “Click the shutter already, human!”
Beau, I just want you to know that I am honored and will cherish this moment for the rest of my life.
