It’s been a big spring for Ospreys in my patch of the Atlantic Coast, with sooo many of these smart, agile fliers reaching maturity that I’ve seen some pressed to find nesting places. More on this later, but right now, let’s just enjoy this portrait of my buddy Oscar.
I tracked Oscar swooping hither and yon in his search for nesting twigs, and at one point I managed to focus on those bright yellow eyes coming right at me!
Watch him bear down and you might see why these fish hawks are my favorite raptors. Such responsible parents too! I do hope you managed to build the perfect nest with your mate Olive, dear Oscar.
