Why King? Because Nigel is a Yellow-Crowned Night Heron.
Why no crown? Because he’s juvenile, and won’t get crowned until he’s a bit older. But you can see that Nigel knows he was born to be crowned! Can’t you tell?
Of course you can! And today he was utterly fearless as I shot him with my loooong 600mm Sony lens, again and again.
Nigel and I are buds by now. When I came back the next day to get more shots, these he was! Posing regally.
And he let me shoot as long as I liked.
As long as I caught his good side.
