I fear Robert K. Downy Woodpecker may no longer be among us, but one of his progeny seems to have settled here, and he’s pretty friendly too!

I’ve darkened the background so you may admire his beautiful plumage and nasal bristles more easily. Otherwise he nearly disappears in the tree bark.

So please say welcome to Donny the Downy and yes, there is a Donna who is perhaps a wee bit more timid about me and my big white zoom—but I’m predicting photos of her as well soon.
