Turf War! (Part 1)

Otis the Great Blue Heron was Sitting on a Dock of the Bay, peaceably fishing in one of his favorite haunts, when…

SQUAWK! He bellowed a mighty Great Blue Heron Alarm and off he flew…

Followed by Gaffer the Gander, in hot pursuit!

How was Otis to know that Gaffer’s beloved Goose was tending a Gaggle of Goslings nearby?

Or maybe he did? It’s not unknown for Great Blues to feast on goose eggs or even Goslings —but they prefer Frogs, Fish, Lizards, and small Crustaceans to the closely guarded young of a Canada Goose. More likely Gaffer was being a bit overzealous, given the long roster of Gosling predators, including but not limited to Coyotes, Raccoons, Foxes, House Cats, Bobcats, Large Mouthed Bass, Gators, Snapping Turtles and the list goes on and on and on…

But watch out, Gaffer! I for one would think twice before messing with a Great Blue Heron… (to be continued!)
